Portland lawyer Jim Leuenberger says a high school teacher in Medford plans to challenge a school district policy that prevents her from carrying a gun on school grounds. The teachers says she carries the licensed firearm for protection.

Ducks embarrass Michigan in blowout
A week after being upset by Appalachian State, the Wolverines were handed their most-lopsided loss in 39 years as Dennis Dixon and the Ducks cruised 39-7 on Saturday. Dixon accounted for 368 yards and a career-high four touchdowns.

Property owners stall new U of O arena plans

Justine Henin beats Serena Williams in U.S. Open quarterfinals
Finding all the right angles and hanging tough on long rallies, Henin beat Williams 7-6 (3), 6-1 Tuesday night to reach the U.S. Open semifinals. They have met in the quarterfinals at three consecutive majors, and Henin is 3-0.
